Chronic pain is a serious and debilitating condition with large financial burden to the patient. Duloxetine (DL) an serotonin and nor-epinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) has well established role in acute pain management. However, recently it has found use in the chronic pain conditions as well. In this review “data is systematically searched and analyzed for some clinical and preclinical studies for use of DL in chronic pain. DL shows analgesic activity in chronic pain states such as Fibromayalgia (FM), Diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain (DPNP) and Oesteo arthritis (OA) in humans and animal models.
